What Students Learn
Five Lessons. Real Skills.
Five lessons that stack — from first principles to civic action. Built for real classrooms with differentiated support built in.
What Is AI?
What AI is, how it differs from human intelligence, and where students already encounter it — before they even walk into class.
How Does AI Learn?
Training data, pattern recognition, and why garbage data means garbage results. Hands-on activities throughout.
AI in Your Community
From traffic systems to school rankings — who benefits from AI and who gets left behind.
Can AI Be Fair?
Bias, transparency, and accountability. Students learn to ask: who built this, whose interests does it serve, and who decides what's fair?
Your Voice, Your Future
The capstone. Students move from understanding to action — as citizens, voters, and architects of the AI-enabled world.

Common Questions
FAQ
Is the pilot kit really free?
Yes. The Florida Pilot Kit is free during the pilot phase — all five lessons, teacher and student editions, implementation docs, standards alignment, assessment materials, and deployment support included. Full-year curriculum, PD, and institutional licenses will be available separately.
Do students need an AI account?
No. We support three paths: no-install, screenshot-based, and district-approved tools. No commercial AI account required for the core lessons.
Can I adapt the materials for my classroom?
Yes, under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. You may adapt materials for local pacing, accessibility, grade-level support, and classroom logistics. Attribution to CivicOS Labs is required, and adapted versions must maintain the same license.
Is this only for Florida?
The pilot kit is standards-aligned to Florida's B.E.S.T. and CPALMS frameworks. Educators in other states are welcome to use and adapt it, but standards alignment will need to be verified for their specific state requirements.
Can my school or district use this at scale?
The free pilot is for evaluation and limited pilot-period instruction. Full-year deployment, district-wide implementation, and commercial use require a separate institutional license. Contact us for details.
Who built this?
CivicOS Labs, LLC — a Florida-based organization building open civic infrastructure, AI literacy, and public-interest technology. Developed with input from educators, technologists, and civic infrastructure specialists.
